THE ARTS - 2009
Timaru Boys' High School has a fine theatrical and musical tradition. Our brass
band has some top performers, among the best in the country. We have consistently
had representation in the National Youth Band.
Each year we combine with Timaru Girls' High School to produce a staged theatre
show. Over the past decade, theatre sports has become a popular activity for many
boys and features in our inter-school exchange programme.
Musical performance groups have an important place in the school. Jazz, rock and
chamber music groups achieve regional recognition on a regular basis. We
encourage boys to be involved in all these areas.
Our Te Tihi - Maru Kapa Haka group provides an important Maori cultural dimension
to the school.
