TBHS ANZAC Service

The final day of term one saw students, staff and friends of the school at TBHS join together for the annual ANZAC Day Service to honour those who served New Zealand in times of conflict.  The guest speaker was Mr Bill Cocks (TBHS 1936-37) who served with the 26th Battalion during World War 2. He spoke to the boys on the value of comradeship during times of conflict and reflected on the passing of those who never returned.  (read more)


ImageSummer Sports Exchanges

Timaru Boys came out on top 3-2 in their annual summer exchange with St Andrews of Christchurch this week. The exchange was held in temperatures that were into the low 30s in Christchurch.
1st XI

The 1st XI cricket team struggled on the first day against a good STAC bowling attack reaching a less than imposing score of 122 all out, Dan OBrien again showing the way with 55. In reply STAC set an impressive score of 387-5 with Henry Shipley scoring an impressive 203. Chris Hogan and Mark Otley shared 5 wickets between themselves. (read more)


ImageTBHS Athletics Sports

Jonathon Lord, the current NZ Schools track walking champion lapped the entire field of over 200 walkers in his 1500m power walk of 6min 01.1sec. Lord captured the race walking record of 6min 14sec from his brother Daniel which was set three years ago. This was an outstanding walk performance.

Brad Lang won the senior sprint treble - 100m/200m and 400m. Tongan twins Talau and Amato Fakatava created an impact with sprint and high jump victories. Both young men are exciting new talents. Tom Cooper (right - gold top) also won a treble - backing up his strong throwing performance with a good win in the long jump. (read more)


ImageTBHS Swimming Sports

All our students participate in the school swimming sports at a range of competition levels. House points are gained for participation and results, which ensures a colourful and vocal afternoon at the school pool every February.This year was warm but overcast which kept all involved from overheating. The newly painted pool looked magnificent and was considerably warmer than other years. Performances in the pool were arguably the best ever with seven individual records broken. (read more)
