TBHS Athletic Sports

Sam Small’s record clearance of 1.82m (pictured above) in the junior boy’s high jump was the standout performance at the Timaru Boys’ High School Athletic Sports. Small only came into the competition at 1.60m when one other competitor was left and proceeded to push the bar 8cm above Jarred Mannex’s 2008 record.

February TBHS v St Andrew's College (Summer Exchange)

St Andrew's College from Christchurch scored a narrow victory over Timaru Boys' High School in the annual summer  sports exchange by 3-2.
The TBHS 1st XI were narrowly beaten by their St Andrew's counterparts in the premier event of the exchange. This was a two day match making it their third consecutive day of cricket on the rectory.  TBHS won the toss and asked the opposition to bat on a damp pitch which offered assistance to the bowlers.  Wickets fell regularly resulting in St Andrew's collapsing to be 112-9.  Importantly, in the context of the match, St Andrew's put on 40 for the last wicket to take the score through to 152.  Blair Brown and Ben Dunbar both picked up 3 wickets...

TBHS Swimming Sports

The Boy’s High pool was awash with colour at the TBHS swimming champs on Friday. The boys took the opportunity to dress in house colours at this annual event.
They were also on hand to witness a 20 year old swim record being broken. Year 10 student Kyle Uys, broke this long standing record during the swimming champs held at the School pool in the 50m freestyle junior event. He recorded a time of 29 seconds bettering the record set in 1990 by A Mackie...

Scholarships Awarded

Five graduates of Timaru Boys’ High School have won Scholarship’s that will help them further their education at various universities over the next three years. Rector Kevin O’Sullivan observed, “Timaru Boys’ High School is hugely fortunate to have one of the most comprehensive range of University Scholarship’s for Secondary Schools in the country and these five young men have taken away scholarship’s to the value of $49,000 in terms of University study value”...
