BADMINTON - 2009

2009 was always going to be a challenge for TBHS having lost players of the calibre of Thomas Elliotte and Dylan Sawers at the end of 2008. However our A team of Sam Elliotte (captain), Harry Riley-Smith, Sam Porter and Willie Wright defended our Aoraki title in style. They beat Waitaki Boy’s High School 6-0 in the first round and our own B team 5-1 in the second round. In the final round they beat Mountainview High School 5-1, a team that had dominated the A grade in the Monday night competition.

28 July was the last night of the season. All three grades of the boys' team competition were won by Timaru Boys' High School.

Aoraki Secondary Schools' Championships

Timaru Boys’ continues to enjoy success in badminton in 2008. Our top team of Thomas Elliotte, Dylan Sawers, Sam Porter and Willie Wright defended the Aoraki title that we won in 2007, winning all of their matches by convincing margins.

In the local school competition, Thomas has won both the singles title and the doubles title for the third year in a row. All of our teams have performed well in the senior A grade competition. Ian Armstrong made the final of both singles and doubles at junior level but went down to Mountainview High School on both occasions.
