BASKETBALL - 2009
Our Senior Basketball team won the South Canterbury Secondary Schools Competition for the third year in a row by beating Roncalli College 52-30 in the final. Team members were Tom Patterson (Captain), Hamish Anderson, Tristan Brady, Si McGartland, Michael Spurdle, Tavita Tautua, Matt Mackay, James McFarlane, Buster O’Connell and Tom Bolton. Si won the Most Valued Player for the second year running; Hamish was the Most Improved Player and the Best Defensive Player. The team lost only one game during the season.
Winter Tournament
The Senior A Basketball Team was also in Nelson. They finished 15th of the 19 teams which was a great result considering the difficulty of their pool and the injuries they suffered throughout. It was great to see this team back in this competition and it is hoped we can go back in this event again next year.

South Canterbury Basketball Secondary Schools' Competition
Our basketball teams have enjoyed a successful season locally, capturing three of the
four boys' titles in the South Canterbury Basketball Secondary Schools' competition
played on Friday nights in terms two and three.
The Senior A team, coached by Mr Mike Curran and Tavita Bower, was led by Hayden
Finlayson and Si McGartland. This side won the final against Roncalli College. Si was
chosen as the most valuable player for Senior A competition and consistently performed
well in scoring, assists and defence.
Two senior B teams contested the Senior B final and the TBHS No 1 team, coached by Mr
Blair Poulter, triumphed in a very competitive encounter. Captain, Ryan O'Driscoll, was
the most consistent player in this winning team.
In the junior B final, the TBHS No 1 team had a narrow win against a very strong Opihi
College side. Hayden Johnston, Mitchell Tresize, Jesse Kempf and Brad Ryan were all key
players in a great team effort
Thom Bolton was selected as the most valuable player for the Junior A competition.
